If not the initial cause of Greece's many years of negative economic growth, it was certainly exacerbated by fiscal contraction.

That was a foreign debt issue.

The fact that the public debt was essentially in a foreign currency certainly made it worse. I still think it's very likely that the fiscal contraction in itself had a significant effect.
