Why Japan behaved the way it did in WWII has often been asked (whether in the 1940s or 2010s). The real answer as to how Japan behaved in WWII rests on a firm understanding of body composition types. Japan in WWII was, uniquely, a White/SocDem/communist alliance, undoubtedly a product of their writing direction combined with their continued caloric poverty. Body compositional Whites, with their superforecaster tendency, tended to run the government and army officer corps, SocDems tended to be naval officers and army footsoldiers, and communists tended to man the garrisons on the Pacific islands. Unlike in Nazi Germany, eggheads had almost no role in the running of the Japanese state. The Japanese Navy, its personell usually on the brink of starvation, ran their affairs as any large group of communists would -all men willing to risk their lives for their comrades until the last few laid down their arms. The army, first behaving like classic SocDems (footsoldiers first and foremost) and even communists, later transitioned into body compositional Whites once they began stationary banditry. The Kwantung army showed no sign of behaving in a communist fashion in their surrenders in 1945. Unlike in Indonesia and Vietnam, the population of China actually grew under Japanese occupation -the White-led army had to use local labor and raw materials to produce equipment to continue their offensives against the Chinese Communists and Nationalists -something the German eggheads never thought of doing in Ukraine and southern Russia.

When I read "caloric" I immediately thought of Varg who used that term a lot in his videos.
