Brief note on effective altruism
This was meant to be posted as a comment on Thing of Things, but since they banned me (for no reason whatsoever), I would like to publish my comment here:

Think about this, guys. The motivation to escape hell is a much more powerful motivator for effective altruism than atheist ethics (which are generally Rawlsian in a "Law of Peoples" than "Theory of Justice" sense). Once I converted to Catholicism (by means of the Russian physical therapy) it is as if a light switch had been turned on.
As for “God doesn’t exist”, well -you have to explain the ordered paranormal somehow.
