Vaccines still work
Ever since vaccines became available, you’d have been much better off in Portugal than Bulgaria. And that’s still very much the case, even as deaths go up in both places due to the Omicron surge:
Note Bulgaria’s deaths are understated by 90%, while Portugal’s are understated by 20%. The shrinking gap between the two countries during the Omicron outbreak is due to three doses being roughly as effective as natural immunity and more effective than two doses.
