There will be found to have been much more contact between the pre-Columbian Mediterranean and Gulf of Mexico than widely presumed, especially leading up to the date of Columbus’s voyage (the timeline of typhus in the Old World and the decline of the Cahokia civilization already suggests this).
There will be found to have been much less population decline in the Americas as a result of the Columbian exchange than widely presumed today.
Both will be best shown via genetic testing of Amerindian bones.
What are your thoughts on Columbus? As you know it's hard to hear anything besides negativity towards him even in universities. I rented Irving's biography of him but haven't had a chance to read it yet.
